Ghaith Bakir, Lead Regulatory Engineer in UL’s Building and Life Safety Technologies division provides regulatory support in the Middle East and North Africa regions. He has been the R&D Director of the Middle East Desalination Research Center, Oman (2015-2020), in charge of research programs/ projects on sustainable desalination technologies, renewable energies for desalination, water-energy-food nexus, climate change, and science diplomacy. He launched the USD 700.000 Prize Oman Humanitarian Desalination Challenge with his colleagues in MEDRC on 2018 and took part of its judging committee panel as well as its parallel research pathway panel. He has been projects manager at the Euro-Mediterranean Information System on know-how in the Water sector (EMWIS), France (2004-2015). Earlier he was research at the Global Change Unit, University of Valencia (Spain), and he is still a Visiting researcher.

Sherif is the current Africa FM Chair, and he is a Co-Founder, former Vice Chair of EGYFMA, and also Sherif is a Global FM board member representing EGYFMA..

Sandra is a passionate environmentalist, architect, urbanist, researcher, and mentor who has lived and worked in the UAE for over 25 years. She is a Fellow of the RIBA, the Royal Society of Arts, and the Academy of Urbanism. She leads tangram’s award-winning MENA region studio who were recognised as the “2019 Architecture Firm of the Year” by the Middle East Economic Digest.
Sandra drives sustainable solutions across the practice and has received a multitude of accolades which include six sustainable design awards for five different projects over a period of just four years.
Over the decades, her work spans from delivering one of the last traditional built coral stone and Indian teak new build projects undertaken in the UAE at Sharjah’s Arts and Heritage Area in the 1990’s; the first green-roofed Government building in Dubai in the 2000’s; a state-of-the-art campus of support facilities for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Programme designed using the principles of traditional desert urbanism, in the 2015. And today, with tangrams expansion across North Africa, she is currently designing a nationwide Hospital of the Future Programme, connecting smarter, digitised, intelligent ecosystems within and across cities to deliver a network of “Hospitals without Walls”, that remodels and redefines healthcare delivery. Introducing a new digital identity that is accessible to all to supplement a reduced and peeled back cost, physical, carbon, water, and waste intensive building footprints, and by using AI and advanced technologies as an exponent of sustainability, offers digitised, patient centric care in virtual hospital facilities located in the Metaverse.

Mohamed Amer works as the Regional Director of Operations for the MENA region with the International Code Council (ICC). He runs ICC’s Dubai office by providing essential on-the-ground support to organizations involved in building safety in the region, including various stakeholders like AHJs, consultants, manufacturers, architects, etc... With over a decade in oil/gas, project management, and TIC industries, he leads ICC’s operations and business development aspects in the MENA through existing and new partners, to help deploy/lead/facilitate ICC’s service lines for new business offerings across its family of solutions spectrum.

Yasmin is an experienced sustainable facilities management professional with more than 15 years of experience in Facilities & Operations. As the Sustainability Director, Yasmin is now leading The American University in Cairo - Office of Sustainability. This position is concerned with addressing AUC's environmental challenges, including climate change, resource scarcity, pollution, and waste management. Among others, her area of expertise, Yasmin has vast experience in developing & writing technical reports, including the Carbon Footprint, and Sustainability Report, in addition to several international reports addressing SDGs. She developed AUC's COE "UNGC - Communication on Engagement," addressing the University's commitment to the UN's five main principles Human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
Yasmin Mansour is a certified Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) and has Facility Management Professional (FMP) credentials from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Mansour received a Master's degree in Construction Management from the American University in Cairo.
Her core motivation is embedding "Sustainable development philosophy and culture in The American University of Cairo Context" to improve and facilitate AUC's institutional response to environmental challenges and promote more conscious decision-making. In carrying out these responsibilities, she always aims to improve the University's operations, strengthen its finances, and enhance its reputation as a sustainability leader in Cairo, Egypt, the Middle East, and North Africa. She always seeks to weave sustainability into the University's culture, mission, and activities, where Mansour succeeded in gaining international recognition for AUC sustainability efforts.
Yasmin Mansour has a leading role in community services & NGOs. She serves as a board member of the Egyptian Facility Management Association "EGFMA" and the Education & Training Committee Chair.
Yasmin was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. In 2002, Mansour graduated with high honors from Ain Shams University with a B.Sc. in Architecture Engineering, Urban & Planning department. Mansour is a master in English, French, and Arabic.
