Our independently judged awards will honour the amazing project work, innovations, business performance and sustainability that has been completed over the last three busy years. They will showcase the growth and achievements of the people and companies who have made all of those projects possible.

The awards are an opportunity for the entire industry to come together. Our panel of expert judges will use the awards to honour the work of project owners and contractors, their consultants, as well as architecture practices, facilities management firms, and engineering firms.

Our judges will be drawn from the highest levels of the industry, working independently to arrive at decisions based on their years of experience, technical expertise and the quality of your entries.

People Categories

Director of the Year NEW

A business leader in the construction industry who has not only demonstrated outstanding industry focused achievements, but also acted as a positive role model and actively sought to bring more diversity to the industry.

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be employed by the company nominating them,
  • Be in a construction role, and
  • Be nominated by their employer.

Judges are looking for the person that best demonstrates a positive impact on their peers, their organisation and will have shown potential to become an exemplary future leader, evidenced by having the ability to positively impact the behaviour of others.

Construction Professional of the Year

The award is open to young professionals in the development and investment industry aged 35 or under as at March 2023. Nominations may be made by an individual or third party and must be an employee of a Property Council member company in that state.

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be employed by the company nominating them
  • Be in a construction role
  • Be nominated by their employer

Judges are looking for the person that best demonstrates a positive impact on their peers, their organisation and will have shown potential to become an exemplary future leader, evidenced by having the ability to positively impact the behaviour of others.

MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) Project of the Year

This award will recognise the high quality standards, practices and excellence in design and installation demonstrated in an MEP project.

The judges will be looking for:

  • Innovative approaches to overcoming challenges
  • Quality, design and integration of sustainable elements
  • Integration and impact on the environment and community
  • Collaboration throughout the project
  • Implementation of effective HSE initiatives

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 - February 2023.

Infrastructure Project of the Year

An award made for an infrastructure project in Egypt, of any size or type that made an important contribution to its surroundings and demonstrated best construction practice.

Eligible project types: transport, metro railway, highways, roads, bridges, civil and structural engineering projects, drainage schemes, public realm works and master planning

The judges will be looking for:

  • Innovative approaches to overcoming challenges
  • Quality, design and integration of sustainable elements
  • Integration and impact on the environment and community
  • Collaboration throughout the project
  • Implementation of effective HSE initiatives

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 - February 2023.

Power & Water Project of the Year

Nominations are open to projects that demonstrate a significant contribution to the water and power industry.

Eligible Project types: company, project, plant, technology.

Judges will be looking for:

  • Improved operations and energy efficiency,
  • Technological innovation, and
  • The implementation of sustainable financial models.

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 - February 2023.

Community Project of the Year

This category recognises excellence in community projects that make a clear and positive contribution to the community they serve, whether that is defined by a shared location, shared values or shared needs.

Eligible project types: Education Facilities, Places of Worship, Streetscape, Hospitals, Museums, Parks & Theme Parks, Sports Facilities, Theatres, Monuments, Culture and Heritage.

Judges will be looking for:

  • Relationship to surroundings and neighbourhood
  • Quality and design
  • Attention to safety, security and accessibility
  • Sustainability in construction
  • The way people interact with and inhabit the space

 Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

Residential Project of the Year

The judges will be looking for an outstanding residential project in Egypt that demonstrates an innovative approach to the overall strategy of the development.

 Eligible project types: single or multiple family homes, apartment complexes, high rise buildings for the purpose of providing dwellings, retirement homes and apartment buildings

Judges will be looking for the very best in housing design, and will consider a wide range of factors:

  • Relationship to surroundings and neighbourhood
  • Quality and design
  • Attention to safety, security and accessibility
  • Sustainability in construction
  • The way people interact with and inhabit the space

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

Commercial Project of the Year

Judges will look for outstanding commercial developments in Egypt where an innovative approach to the strategy of the development has been taken.

 Eligible project types: hotels, retail, leisure facilities, mixed-use, office buildings

The judges will be looking for:

  • World-class standards of design,
  • High standards of safety and security,
  • Energy efficiency, and
  • Clear demonstrations of innovation.

The criteria for success are based not only on quality and innovation, but also on evidence demonstrating a sensible use of budget, while satisfying the client brief.

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, Developer, Project Owner, etc. will be accepted.

The project must be completed during the period of January 2020 - February 2023.

Developer of the Year

Judges will be looking for developers whose company financial performance and projects from January 2020– February 2023 demonstrate innovative design, development concepts and architectural excellence in external and internal design and functionality. Projects will demonstrate quality of design, construction, visual appeal, compatibility with neighbouring land uses and be sensitive to environmental issues.

The winner will show how it is successfully driving its vision and mission.

This category is open to companies with offices in Egypt.

Judges will be looking for innovation and consistency in the delivery of outstanding projects on time and to the highest standards. Preference will be given to entrants that provide evidence of innovation, complexity, productivity, and quality.

Contractor of the Year

In this category, judges will be looking for evidence of contribution to projects, innovation, quality of work and excellent safety record, representing the construction industry in a positive way.  The winner will have shown how it is successfully driving its vision and mission.

 This category is open to companies with an office in Egypt and will be assessed for services delivered during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

The judges will evaluate the entries based on their:

  • Portfolio of projects
  • Innovation and sustainability in practice
  • Contribution and service to the profession
  • Evidence of sustainable design principles
  • Demonstration of a commitment to the younger generation through mentoring, supervision, and training opportunities.

Consultancy of the Year

This category is open to any type of construction consultancy, including quantity surveyors, cost consultants, engineering consultants and project managers. Entrants for this category must have demonstrated their contribution to their clients’ success, their own business development achievements and knowledge sharing.  The winner will demonstrate how it is successfully driving its vision and mission.

This category is open to companies with an office in Egypt and will be assessed for services delivered during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

The judges will evaluate the entries based on their:

  • Portfolio of projects
  • Innovation and sustainability in practice
  • Contribution and service to the profession
  • Evidence of sustainable design principles
  • Demonstration of a commitment to the younger generation through mentoring, supervision, and training opportunities.

Architecture Firm of the Year

This award is to recognise an architectural firm that has not only created brilliant architecture but also demonstrated their awareness of modern regulations statutory requirements and solutions.

Judges will look at the practice’s planning expertise and see if their services to their clients are of paramount importance and that their projects are finished on time and within budget.

Judges will also see if the office staff have complete, full administrative and secretarial back-up, showing that the practice is capable of dealing with even the largest project whilst still maintaining a personal service.

This category is open to companies with an office in Egypt and firms will be assessed for services delivered during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

Engineering Firm of the Year

The winning firm will have to demonstrate innovative and timely solutions to engineering problems and project delivery performance. Evidence of staff retention, recruitment initiatives and education programmes, along with a demonstration of responsible care and community projects will also be considered.

 This category is open to companies with an office in Egypt and firms will be assessed for services delivered during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

The judges will evaluate the entries based on their:

  • Portfolio of projects
  • Innovation and sustainability in Practice
  • Contribution and service to the Profession
  • Evidence of Sustainable Design Principles
  • Demonstration of a commitment to the young generation i.e. Mentoring, Supervising, and Training Opportunities

Innovation of the Year

This award will recognise innovative construction projects, products and solutions in Egypt that lead, change, transform and improve the construction process in a positive way. The winning entry must demonstrate measurements of success and team collaboration. The innovation could be a new process, technology, or creative idea which has been implemented from January 2020- February 2023.

Entries should focus on at least one example of specific innovation.

The judges will be looking for:

  • Innovation and teamwork
  • Impact on its surrounding environment or community
  • Demonstration of construction best practice
  • Use of the latest techniques and technologies to ensure project success
  • Implementation of effective HSE initiatives

The winning entry will be an innovation applied to overcome one or more construction challenges and will involve a demonstrably different solution that lead to better outcomes.

Facilities Management Firm of the YearNEW

This Award recognises and celebrates the achievements of a Facilities Management (FM) firm (operating in Egypt), which delivers outstanding building performance for their clients and has secured a successful portfolio of new business over the last 3 years. Entrants must give evidence on how the business is improving building performance for their clients in terms of user satisfaction and comfort, energy and carbon, health and wellbeing and whole life value. Entrants must also show how they are driving competitive advantage, innovation and developing their workforce.

Carbon Net Zero Initiative of the YearNEW

This category will recognise leading initiatives across Egypt that implement reduction in embodied carbon during the construction of new infrastructure, or buildings that support carbon net zero aims. The initiative could also be an alternative design, use of new materials, or innovative equipment to reduce energy consumption during a project and its lifecycle. The project does not have to be complete, however, evidence is requested which shows the lower or zero carbon impact from the initiative. How the initiative presents a reduction in embodied carbon and the impact of the design on reducing operational carbon should also be demonstrated where possible. (Product suppliers are not eligible)

Award for Health and Safety

This category recognises a company’s exceptional safety, health and environmental programme achievement.  The company must have demonstrated results in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and implemented a programme that has contributed to the establishment of a safe and healthy environment, either within their own organisation, or for their clients, which can also serve as an example to industry across Egypt.

This category is open to companies with an office in Egypt and will be assessed for services delivered during the period of January 2020 to February 2023.

The judges will be looking for:

  • Demonstration of leadership in safety
  • Active promotion of safety in the workplace
  • Innovation and enthusiasm in marketing safety
  • Collaborative and proactive work towards improving safety
  • Mentoring of others in safety
  • Effective integration of health and safety in all processes

The criteria for success are based not only on quality and innovation, but also on evidence showing that health, safety and environmental concerns are managed strategically and integrated at the very heart of management systems and decision-making. The judges will further be looking for submissions demonstrating a sensible use of budget while satisfying the client brief.

 

Smart City Initiative of the Year

The Award will recognise the initiative (ideas and strategies) making Egypt’s cities more livable, sustainable, and economically viable.  The winning initiative will have the biggest positive impact on its citizens –the award is open to initiatives developed in one or more of the following areas:  mobility, environment, urban safety and security or data and technology.

Sustainable Initiative of the Year

This award is open to any initiative with the goal of creating a more environmental, social and economic impact by promoting and engaging its employees and the community in sustainability. The company should demonstrate how this initiative incorporates reduced energy consumption, use of alternative energy sources, increased recycled component usage, waste reduction measures, reduced water consumption, local sourcing initiatives, and how this has made a positive impact on the industry and the local community.

This category is open to any ongoing sustainability oriented initiative executed in Egypt within January 2020– February 2023.

Partnership of the Year

The Partnership of the Year award will recognise partnerships between project stakeholders (owners, architecture firms, contractors, PMCs, engineering firms, technology providers, financial institutions and legal firms), which demonstrate a collaborative management approach. Entries should deliver clear evidence of alignment of objectives, common culture, team integration, overcoming challenges together, knowledge transfer and wow-factor successes as a team.
