Egypt is the largest construction market in Africa. Driven by a fast-growing population, Egypt is investing in billions in housing and infrastructure developments.
The country has more than $190 billion under construction and a further $30 billion in the design and tender phases. The bulk of the active projects is in the construction sector which comprises real-estate and leisure developments. The construction sector accounts for more than $215 billion or 51% of the active project market. Power infrastructure and transport infrastructure are tied second with 15% of the active projects market, each valued at over $120 billion.
The large population and pace of growth will remain nurture drivers for the construction industry in Egypt. The trend will most likely continue for the foreseeable future.
